Rhythmicise:

This class is for ages 2 1/2 - 3 1/2. . It is creative movement, exercise rhythm class which aides in motor and social development. Emphasis is on acting and dance movement, rather than any other specific form of dance. Props ate used to enhance development skills.

Kindergarten of Dance:

This is for ages 4-5. It is a pre-ballet class including barre work, learning of correct dance terminology, development of musicality, rhythm, coordination, balance, self-control and self-confidence. It explores movement in various directions, levels and qualities while children learn to work in groups, develop listening skills, verbal instruction and visual cues. Emphasis is on imagination, expressing emotions, ideas and stories through creative work.

Ballet:

Barrre exercises warm up and strengthen muscles as well as teach proper body placement, alignment, technique and terminology. Centre work includes floor exercises for strengthening and stretching; adagio for slow, controlled movements to develop grace, line; balance and strength; petite allegro for small jumps and other fast lively movements to develop speed, coordination, strength and endurance; grand allegro to develop big jumps and leaps. Turns, walks, arabesques, waltz combinations and reverence are also emphasized. Pointe work is only for those who are recommended by the instructor.

Competition group:

This class is designed for those who wish to compete in local dance/talent competitions. Times and dates TBA. Auditions are held.

Hip Hop:

Hip-hop dance is an expansion of jazz dance. Adding the free-style and MTV style element enhance the basic fundamentals of jazz technique. The choreography is similar to that of which you would see in an MTV video.

Jazz:

Heavily accented rhythms with spirited movements and isolations influence the centre and floor exercises to aide in developing flexibility and strength. Skills learned are isolations, jazz walks, runs, triplets, chasses, leaps and turns. Dance combinations utilize a variety of the above techniques to work on memory, coordination, agility, style and expression. Hip Hop/Jazz as well as Lyrical and Broadway are included in this dance form.

Tap:

Students use tap shoes to spell out rhythms. Barr and centre work develop proper technique, good balance. and teach students to make sounds clear and musical. Centre work consists of stamps, stomps, steps, taps, drops, digs, brushes and many more. Turns, traveling steps and other across the floor combinations are also included. .

 Modern:

This dance form is an attitude toward dance, point of view that encourages artistic individualism and the development of personal choreographic style. It is less formal than ballet.

Latin/Ballroom:

Formal dance experience is not a necessity. No one has 2 left feet.  If you can walk, we can teach you to look and feel good on the dance floor.

We cover various forms of Latin ballroom dances – Fox Trot, Waltz, Swing, Salsa, Cha Cha, Rumba, Samba, etc.
